AirPods 5: active noise cancellation without earbuds that seal your ear

The new AirPods 5 block up to 50 percent more background noise than the AirPods 4, while keeping the same open-ear design we already know. Transparency mode and Adaptive Audio automatically switch between listening to music and hearing your surroundings.

There’s also hands-free Siri that can draw on your messages, emails, and photos for context, and you can respond with a simple head nod. With Live Translation, Apple Intelligence translates conversations in real time. The version with the wireless charging case adds a force sensor for stem volume control and lasts up to 5 hours with noise cancellation on (22 hours with the case).

The AirPods 5 cost $129, or $149 for the version with the wireless charging case. Pre-orders are open today, with retail availability starting September 18.
